JESSICA.18.LOVE TO HAVE FUN.BLAHHH
Las Meninas by Diego Velazquez
This painting reminds me of when I was younger and I would do scavenger hunts. There are so many hidden facts and people in it that it is just fun. The piece in reality is capturing a moment. Velazquez himself appears in the piece and he is painting the king and queen, which are shown reflected in a mirror in the back of the room. Since the first time I saw this piece and understood it, it has always been very special to me, I love the story behind it.
Starry Night by Vincent Van Goh
This painting for some reason makes me feel sad. It reminds me of the years that I spet living in cuba and how beautiful the sky looked whenever there was a blackout which was often. My cousins andI would all climb up to the roof and sit there and watch the stars and if we got lucky the electricity would come back before bed time.
Venus of Urbino by Titian
I love this piece because of the history behind it. Titian, the artist. was actually painting his wife. The painting makes me feel peaceful, she looks one hundred percent comfortable and happy to be there. The colors make everything blend together perfectly and it is just a happy and serene scene.
The Kiss by Gustav Klimt
This is my favorite art piece of all time. My parents have a picture simmilar to this from their wedding and to me this is a perfect example of what love looks like. The tenderness and passion this piece gives off is almlost mesmerizing. In a way it gives me something to look forward to when I find that one person who loves me that way.
Mark Rothko # 14
This piece is one of my favorite expressionist pieces because it reminds me of a sunset. The colors of this painting remind me of that serene and beautiful moment right before the sun is completely gone, the sky is half red and half black. It makes me feel peaceful and calm.
Vilhelm Hammershoi
This painting to me is very beautiful. I like how the woman in it looks at the door as if she is waiting for someone. When I was younger I would pace around the front door waiting for my dad to get home. Usually he would get home late, so by that time I would be sleepy and would eventually fall asleep on the couch if he had a very long night. I feel that the woman on the painting has the same yearning for something or someone.
This piece will always have a special place in my heart. It reminds me of when I was younger. My dad always worked a late shift and I would always end up waiting by the door and eventually falling asleep on the couch. When he would get home he would carry me to my bed. It takes me back to those nights and it reminds me of how much I used to miss my dad during that time.
Eduard Manet
This piece by Manet reminds me of an Art History class that I took when I was in highschool. To me this is such a peaceful scene, and so beautiful. During class, our teacher would always make us analize the paintings as well, and whenever this one came up, I was always hesitant to talk about it for some reason. Sure enough, this was the one that came up on the AP test.
This piece is very special to me. It reminds me of my first art history class which is how my passion for art started. It reminds me of all the projects and work that I enjoyed doing so much. I loved that class and this painting takes me back to those days.
Edgar Degas
This is actually one of my favorite Degas paintings. The scene makes me feel kind cahotic. When I was a little girl, I took ballet, and this reminds me of that moment right before we would go on stage and perform. Everyone was nervous and anxious but at the same time very excited.
I have ways loved this piece. It is honestly a perfect example of the cahos and the feel of a recital back stage. I always took dance and ballet when I was younger and that moment right before you go out and perform is nerve wrecking. All of us would get together and do our cheer and then go out there and give it our best.
Casey Bough
Oddly enough, this piece remins me of myself. When I’m getting ready to go out I am always very excited with my outfit and my heels. Usually by the end of the night my shoes have already come off, and I bring out the spare pair of flats I keep in my clutch. When it comes time to put my heels back on, my face looks just as irritated as the girl in this piece.
When I saw this piece it just reminded me of my party nights. Whenever I would go out I would wear my best and tallest heels. They were not always comfortable which is why they would always end up on the floor but they were always a big part of the parties and the clubs for me.
Maxfield Parrish Thunderheads
This piece reminds me on my childhood. It is such a careless, happy scene. It reminds me of when I used to go to my grandmother’s house. She used to have a swing for me as well, and those were honestly some of the happiest times from my childhood.
This is one of my favorite pieces because of how much it reminds me of my childhood. I was always a very happy kid and I was the happiest when I was at my grandmother’s house on my swing. I would imagine all sorts of things like I was a princess in a beautiful castle and I was playing on my playground. It just brings back happy thoughts for me because although I was playing in a muddy back yard, to me it was my kingdom.
